Sex and Disability is centred on Nick, a young man whose promising future is derailed by a sudden stroke that leaves him wheelchair-bound. His mother hires a carer, Jasmine, to whom Nick confides that he has been exchanging sexually charged “poems” with a girl named Lucinda online... But does Lucinda actually exist? And can Jasmine help Nick to meet the girl of his virtual dreams? This musical is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
The show’s songs are bittersweet reflections on the trials and complexities faced by disabled people - who, like everyone else, deserve love, desire and the possibility of romance.
