Bunga! Bunga! - or Silvio in His Own Words - is my most ambitious work to date. Designed for a large cast, it follows the life and times of Silvio Berlusconi, three times Prime Minister of Italy - with all of Silvio's dialogue coming from real words spoken by Berlusconi himself. Each key event in his life is portrayed as both a song and a spectacle - from his forays into entertainment and football to his political manoeuvrings, and the Mafia associations and sex scandals that eventually led to his downfall. Was Silvio motivated purely by self interest, or was he driven by his love for Italy?
Thanks to Mishkin Fitzgerald, the music for Bunga! Bunga! has recently been completed and the musical is now ready for the stage. I am now seeking collaborators and funders to bring this project to fruition.
The musical features songs in a diverse range of genres - from tango, soul and reggae to triumphant marching songs and witty numbers in the style of Cole Porter. You can have a listen to two of the songs below.
